This year is their tenth annual festival ' a decade of music which has seen bands such as James, Oasis, 808 State, the Stone Roses, Badly Drawn Boy and even Clint Boon play to rapturous international crowds. The festival, famed for mixing leftfield electronica with cool indie-pop, complements Benic'ssim's blistering fiesta weather perfectly. There's no Nelly Furtado, Black Eyed Peas or Joss Stone here (unlike Glastonbury 2004) - this festival prefers acts you can sink your teeth into. The Monday beach party hosted by 2 Many DJs means you get 5 days of music ' more than enough time to pick up a nice tan.

How to get there
Benic'ssim lies 100 miles south of Barcelona and 50 miles north of Valencia on Spain's Costa Azahar. Fly with Iberia from Manchester to Valencia ('200 return) or to Barcelona ('100-110 return). Reserve your seats with Renfe (see link below) if you travel down on the train from Barcelona as spaces sell out extremely fast.

Where to stay
Camping is free but the heat quickly turns tents into microwave ovens ' if you don't fancy baking it's wise to get a hotel with air-conditioning. The main tourist strip is 5-10 minutes walk from the site but beware - many hotels increase their tariffs for the festival period. Tweet
