Thai blues party time

MANCHESTER crooner Cole Page (pictured) was only too happy to receive the call from new Manchester City chairman Thaksin Shinawatra to perform at the free concert he is staging in the city centre tomorrow.

And I hear Shinawatra - whose nickname is "Frank", also has a penchant for the music of his Rat Pack namesake.

Cole tells me: "I've been asked to sing Frank Sinatra's My Way, as I've been told it is Dr Shinawatra's favourite song."

Cole will be performing at the One City street party to be held in Albert Square following the end of City's Thomas Cook Trophy match against Valencia on Saturday.

The new chairman is inviting people from all over the city to the free concert and there will be some free transport available to take supporters from the stadium to the city centre.

Mai Charoenpura, one of Thailand's most popular entertainers, will be singing live, and I hear champion boxer, and huge Blues fan, Ricky Hatton will also be dropping in.

New City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, several of the Blues' squad and other special guests will also be there, while free Thai food will be cooked up.

The event is from 6-8.30pm.
