OFFICE kitchens are being turned into death traps by slovenly staff, experts have warned.

Hundreds of workers are struck down by vomiting and stomach cramps every year because of their colleagues’ filthy habits.

Mucky microwaves and fridges provide particularly dangerous breeding grounds for potentially lethal bacteria such as E.coli, salmonella and listeria, according to cleaning firm Dr Beckmann Rescue.

A spokesman called on everyone to “do their bit” to keep the workplace clean by wiping down appliances and surfaces.

“While it is very tempting to leave it to someone else, letting the kitchen become dirty could easily lead to you and your colleagues becoming very ill.

“Too many people face kitchen hell at work, simply because some colleagues fail to do their bit - we think everyone should be able to enjoy kitchen heaven.”
