The food is full of flavour with the freshest ingredients. My friend had the duck egg omelette to start, which looked fantastic; in fact it looked more like a main meal than a starter. I had the haddock fishcakes. I have to say I am not a big fish eater (I know, criminal) but the taste of the haddock was superb.
For mains we had the specials, you know how we girls like to treat ourselves. My friend had the fish special with mussels, salmon, sea bass and a creamy sauce, which in her words was the best fish dish she has had in a very long time - and she likes to dine out!
I had the chicken and black pudding with creamy mashed potato - what a perfect combination. Unfortunately we were both too full for dessert. But that's a good excuse to go back again, don't you think?
All in all, the music was perfect, soft and relaxing, the atmosphere friendly and homely and the staff you could not fault - and this is what it is like every time - no matter what day or evening you always get the same quality of service and food. And to cap it all off, the bill is always so much less than you think for two starters, two mains and a bottle of wine, which I nearly forgot to mention. This was of perfect quality from the extensive choice. We went for the Pinotage, which had great flavour and fullness, and all this came to under é50. Now, I call that great value and I can honestly say that there is no compromise when it comes to the quality.
