Romance of course comes in many guises and depending on your preference we're pleased to say we have a watering hole to suit.
Whilst the centre of town isn't classic territory for a traditional roaring fire/cosy seating combo, there are a few options - like newly refurbished pub The Deansgate, a stones throw from Deansgate Locks but miles away in terms of its attitude. Ideal for a laid back love in.
Or, if you don't mind forfetting the fire, there's the great service and whisky-laden back bar of the Briton's Protection to call on: the intimate location of many a heart-to-heart.
If you're looking for something a little more Lost in Translation for your liaison - all city views, smooth service and sexual subtext - the obvious choice is Cloud 23.
But if this corporate chav-magnet turns you off rather than on may we recommend you try The Modern (pictured) at Urbis instead.
You'll get the glam sightlines and great drinks in a space with more inherent personality than the entire Hilton estate.
Or finally, why not follow in the fine footsteps of Anchorman Ron Burgandy?
When he wanted to win over prospective amour Veronica Corningstone, he took her to the local jazz joint, ordered three fingers of Glenlivet and some cheese, serenaded her with a little jazz flute, and let the journey to pleasuretown begin. The Manchester equivalent of Tinos? Matt & Phreds , of course. Replace cheese with the house pizza (the stuff of local culinary legend - when in Rome, after all) and this could be the night out for you.
Happy courting!
