The Self-Portrait UK exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery (until January 20) gives an amazing insight into the way people see themselves. The exhibition includes 100 images, videos and artefacts from more than 5,0000 generated across the UK by Channel 4's UK-wide self-portrait campaign.
Muslim comedienne Shazia Mirza launched the exhibition, which includes many moving images by pupils from Levenshulme High School in Manchester and Grange School in Oldham.
Alongside the thousands of ordinary people who have contributed are a number of celebrities, including actress Jenny Agutter, poet Benjamin Zephaniah and broadcaster Jon Snow.
Self-Portrait UK is produced by production company Media 19 for Channel 4, with the National Protrait Gallery, Arts Council England and galleries throughout the UK. A new campaign, Self Portrait UK 14-19, has just been launched. Tweet

Dear Sir/Madam
I am a professional artist/painter from Pakistan. I have recently settled in UK. I have been a regular participant in different exhibitions during my studies and after my post graduation (in Pakistan). I have also been teaching drawing to undergraduate and postgraduate students at The Institute Of Art & Design, Punjab University, Pakistan for a period of four years.
Now I am here and I want to register myself in UK art circles as a practicing Artist so that I can take part in local exhibitions and artistic events.
KINDLY DO INFORM ME ABOUT ANY FUTURE EVENTS.
