POSTPONED because it clashed with an England match during Euro 2004, this rescheduled poetry event finally has its day. Presented by Manchester Poetry Festival and Poetry organisation Apples and Snakes, it sees three poets with distinctly different styles showcasing their talents.
From London comes Malika Booker. Booker, who co runs the writer's collective Poetry Kitchen, has established herself on the performance scene down south but has also exercised her skills across the US and Europe.
The creator of poetry, plays, monologues and one-woman shows, Booker has a sassy confident style which should present her lyrical works to their full effect.
Joining her on the bill is playwright and director Khadijah Ibrahiim. Ibrahiim has performed her poetry in many locations around the world but calls Leeds her home, where she organises the Leeds Young Authors group - her poetry promises to explore Africa and the Caribbean from a spiritual perspective.
And even closer to home, Manchester based performer Amanda Milligan finishes off this bill of female performers with a set of intense, compelling works on a metaphysical tip.
In the hands of three poets who are well practised in their craft, it is a night of which expectation will be high, and which shouldn't fail to deliver a decent result. Which is more than can be said for England in the European cup'.
Lit at The Blue Cat, Blue Cat Caf' takes place on Thursday, July 29 at 7.30pm. '2.50, '1.50. Call 0161 236 5725 for more information.
