Karen focuses on music scene

PHOTOGRAPHER Karen McBride's camera probes the hidden corners of Manchester nightlife from points near the noisy stages of club and pub venues.

She captures contemporary characters and moments with work which promotes bands and musicians in the area.

Organisers of an exhibition of her pictures at the Polar Bear record shop in Deansgate said: "Karen peers into the shadows of independent Manchester and observes the rich seam of creativity that lies hidden in every corner of the city."

The former photo print firm worker has a passion for photography which began in childhood, and believes her method of working captures the spirit of the musicians at gigs around the city.

Karen said: "I try to represent what goes on in Manchester through music, and I'm glad to say that the exhibition has been very well-received."
