Over the last few years we have been working behind the scenes with international artists, to commission more than 25 works to premiere in the city.
Many of these performances will then tour to international cities including Berlin, New York and Paris, but Manchester will see them before anyone else.
Manchester is a city known for invention and reinvention and we hope the programme reflects this, while also looking very much to the future.
Talent
Manchester's talent will be showcased on the global stage alongside international headline stars.
Some of these performances will continue Manchester's rich musical heritage others will be theatrical, taking their influences from places as diverse as China and Cuba.
There will be moments of reflection, where the important issues of our time are explored, through the work and a series of debates.
We have an exciting line-up of events planned from June 28 until July 15 as well as an architecturally designed Pavilion to meet up, eat, drink and soak up the atmosphere.
I hope that you all enjoy 18 extraordinary days and nights in Manchester.
What do you thyink? Have your say.

I don't think this festival is promoted enough on the local or international stage.
