Macclesfield Expats - try our map!

ARE you a former resident of Macclesfield who has moved abroad and who wants to get back in touch with people still living in the town? Do you know of friends or family who have moved overseas and you want to try and track them down? Well here's your chance with our new interactive map ...

In this section, we're giving an opportunity for people who were parted when locals decided to make new lives overseas to make contact once again.

If you are an ex-pat, who wants to know the whereabouts of a pal or relative, send us the details and we'll post them up here. The same is true of locals - let us know if you want to get back in touch with a local who has left these shores. You never know - they might just visit this site, read your message and you could be reunited.

Alternatively, ex-pats can write to us simply if they want to let the folks back home know what they've been up to, how life overseas is treating them, and what they miss about Macclesfield.

All you have to do to take advantage of this service is to click here to go to our interactive map of the world , then click on the part of the map where you live. Your own pinpoint will appear which you can move to the exact location you want (use the controls on the top-right of the map to move around and to zoom in and out, right down to street level).

A form will also appear which will allow you to give your name, contact details, reason for moving and anything else you want to share with us.

Please note - this information will appear live on the site immediately and is not moderated. If you feel that somebody is abusing this map service, please click here to e-mail the web editor.

NOTE: All entries received so far, which can bee seen by clicking on 'View comments' have been added to the interactive map - from now on we'd like all new entries to be added via this map and not by clicking on 'Submit comments'. Thank you.

Hi All
I lived in Mac 1960 - 65. Attended St Albans and the Kings School. I lived on Chester Road (near to Harry Willamsons grocery) and on Weston Estate. Used to sneak into the Drome Movie Theatre (likely long gone). Ate ice cream from Granellis.
Anyone remember those times, drop me a line.

I remember you Mr. McEwan, although not fondly. By your merciless bullying, you and your obnoxious friend Burkhart made sheer hell out of my Upper Fourth year at King's. It is somewhat amusing that my nemesis also emigrated to California, although I am relieved to find that we were not actually near neighbors. Before we all emigrated, my family lived in Poynton, then on the Weston. I was at King's 61-68. I too remember sneaking into the old Picturedrome to see Christopher Lee -- nice to see that he's still working. I miss the Bate Hall and Coare Street Chippy, but not the weather or VAT.

Hi - getting in touch on behalf of my husband, Richard Roberts. He is Macc born and bred and I lived there from 1980-85 before we moved back home to NI. I met Richard while working behind the bar in the Bull's Head in Market Place. My full time job was as a Secretary in Parkside Hospital. Richard's best mate was called Adam Smith - last known address (I think) Barton Street...anyone know a tall red headed man with a semi-Southern accent? He had a brother called Aaron. We would love to hear from Adam or even from someone who can tell us how he is and what he is doing with himself. Hello also to my relatives, Simon, Joanne, Bridie and Trevor Roberts, Peter and Jane Ferris, Janette and Paddy Forrest and Alan and Alison Ferris - and all the kids of course. Plus John Glynn, Stella, Carole Gaskell, Anne Blench, Kevin & Helen Lingard , Peter and Emma Hibbert, John Ellis, Ian & Joanne Snape, Tina and Howard Torson, Jane Brindle, Peter, Colin, Alan, Paddy and Simon from the Bull's Head, Steve Tingey (best 21st birthday party I've ever been to...) and anyone else who knows me!
