DARTS: HEYWOOD made a great start to their Greater Manchester Super League second division campaign on Sunday, defeating Radcliffe 5-2 at Bay Horse.

Pete Rhodes and Steve Cross put the home side two up before Radcliffe hit back with the third and fourth sets. Heath Cook was unfortunate to lose by the odd leg in five with a commendable 77.35 average.

Darren Latham, Billy Brooks and Dale Slamon completed the victory.

The team’s next match is at Wigan on 28 June.

The Hark to Towler picked up their third 6-1 win from as many matches when they overcame Starkey in the Heywood Men’s Summer League. The performance was lit up by a 180 from Ian Cartledge.The only other team with an unbeaten record Bay Horse beat Crown 4-3. Steve Cross supplied a 180 in helping St James defeat the Engineers 4-3.

The Woolpack made it two wins from two outings in the Heywood Ladies Summer League when they beat Crown, winners of their opening two matches, 4-2 last week.

The only team yet to record a victory, Bay Horse, went down to their third consecutive defeat 4-2, their conquerors last week being the Pig and Whistle.
