Ulverston from the Lake District had made the long journey to Heywood, and the travelling must have taken its toll as Roach went 2-0 ahead after just 30 minutes through Andy Illingworth and Ranny Wolstenholme.

In the second half, the Heywood side, playing with just 10 men due to injuries and suspensions, created chances while the visitors had their fair share of opportunities, only to be denied by a solid goalkeeping performance from player of the match Liam Kefford.

With 10 minutes remaining, Ulverston pulled a goal back, and then three minutes later as Roach re-grouped, they equalised.

The game went to extra time and eventually penalties. Roach scored three out of the first four, and Kefford was on hand again to save two to put Roach through.

On 90 minutes it was 4-4, but two minutes into stoppage time Brett Rostron headed in at the far post for what looked like the winner. Oldham threw everything at Roach, and six minutes into added on time and with the last kick of the match, they grabbed a point with a deflected goal.

Roach Under sevens Blacks were away to Little Lever who were previously unbeaten.

Roach went close to a consolation through McIlvenny and Armstrong but Lever broke away again and raced down the other end to make it 6-0. Man of the match for Roach was Ethan Armstrong.
