SOCCERWORLD Coaching Centre has a new base at Matthew Moss School.
The centre, which has been based in Heywood for seven years, will work in partnership with the school to provide sessions for boys and girls aged four and over.
Soccerworld student Melissa King, 10, is already bearing the fruits of the coaching on offer and has been playing for the Greater Manchester School of Excellence for the past two seasons, having been one of only six girls selected from trials held throughout the county.
Melissa, pictured below, has been learning the game since she was four-years-old and made her debut, aged seven, for Soccerworld Dynamos’ under nines. She was voted the league's player of the season.
During the summer Melissa was selected as a player escort for the MLD European Championships semi-final between Holland and Bulgaria and the final between England and Holland.
She has also benefited from coaching from two of England’s top women soccer stars - Sue Smith (Leeds and England) and European player of the year Fara Williams (Everton and England).
Soccerworld’s sessions run on Saturdays from 10am to noon. They include fun based skill drills, mini games, and player-of-the-day awards. There is also a team in a local mini-soccer league.
