ROCHDALE’S win over Heywood in the Wood Cup quarter-final on Sunday tasted all sweeter after the Redbrook boys suffered defeat in the Twenty20 competition on Friday.

Heywood’s 15-year-old bowler Tom Blundell had a remarkable game, claiming five Rochdale wickets for just eight runs off 3.1 overs.

Norden beat Middleton at Towncroft thanks to strong contributions from professional Jean Symes (53) and Stephen Firth (40no).

Milnrow exited the competition after losing a bowl out against Crompton 2-1.

In the quarter finals, Norden entertain Clifton while Littleborough, who were beaten by Walsden on Friday, are at home to Royton.
