THREE of Glossop Judo Club’s best fighters were in action at the Midland under-20 Judo Championships.

Fighters from across the country were in action, all bidding to earn ranking points as they seek places in the national squad.

The competition, the first of four such events in 2010, saw Eric Ham take gold in the pre-cadet under-34kg section which earned him 10 ranking points in the process.

Rhiannon Baldwin won bronze in the pre-cadet under-52kg section, giving her six ranking points.

Elsewhere, Vikki Walton was edged out in her bronze medal fight in the cadet under-57kg category.

All three are back in action at the North West Open, the second ranking event, held at St Helens where they will be joined by clubmates Ryan Phillips and Tom Greenough.
