Daniel on the Money

GLOSSOP’S Daniel Money will be leading the charge as Great Britain’s four-man bobsleigh team bids for gold at the upcoming Winter Olympics.

The former Sale Harrier will be joined by another ex-Harrier, Allyn Condon, for the Games in Vancouver.

They have been finalising their preparations in Park City, Utah, before heading to the Great Britain holding camp in Calgary and then arriving in Whistler on February 17.

Money failed to qualify for the summer Olympics despite having a personal best of 10.16secs in the 100m.

"He never got selected for the summer Games so he’s made up to be picked for Vancouver," said Money’s proud father David.

Harriers’ team boss Eric Hughes also paid tribute to the pair following their Winter Olympic selection.

"Allyn is one of the few members to take part in 100 league matches for us," sais Hughes.

"It doesn’t surprise me he has done so well.

"Dan also turned in some good performances for us over the years and we’re delighted to see them both representing Britain in Vancouver. "

The Games’ opening ceremony takes place on Friday.
