Tintwistle Athletic’s reserves progressed to the semi-finals of the Derbyshire Junior Cup with an emphatic win over Whaley Bridge-based The Railway.
First-half goals from Liam Bailey, Ben Taylor (two each), James Coombers and Adam Worrall set Tintwistle on their way to a 9-1 win.
Second half goals from Tim Grahamslaw (two) and a further effort from man-of-the-match Bailey saw the home side through.
The semi-final will take place on February 11 and they will have a long trip away to Woodthorpe Rovers from Chesterfield.
Elsewhere, Tintwistle’s under-sevens beat Vipers Blacks in a cup tie.
The first game finished 0-0 and the second game ended 1-1, Tintwistle’s goal coming from Ben Priestly.
The game went to penalties, and successful strikes from Daniel Myers and Connor Roscoe saw Tintwistle win 2-1.
Keeper Luke Roscoe also saved two penalties for Tintwistle.
