THE match between Glossop North End and Dukinfield Youth’s under-eights finished with the spoils being shared.
The opening game saw Dukinfield record a 1-0 win against North End’s Hawks team.
Luke Chattington struck the woodwork in the first half for Glossop whose keeper Joe Rowlinson could only watch as Dukinfield headed over from close range with half-time approaching.
However, he could do little to prevent the only goal of the game, coming when Troy Butler slipped while defending a corner and headed the ball into his own net.
North End’s Eagles team were able to make amends though, recording a 3-1 victory in their game.
Playing their best football of the season, Glossop opened the scoring when Lewis Bradley’s corner was deflected into the net by the Dukinfield defence.
Their lead was doubled when Bradley’s effort was well saved, only for Harry Newton to convert the rebound.
Although Dukinfield immediately halved the deficit, Glossop sealed victory midway through the second period when skipper Newton’s speculative effort found its way under the keeper.
