Dinting are now 33 points from the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League division one title following a two-wicket success against Compstall.

They got the better of a side which had gone into the game with three wins on the bounce.

Dinting won the toss and elected to field on what looked a bowler-friendly track.

Seville and Coleman strangled the hosts’ scoring opportunities, and with the score 24 from 14 overs, Coleman took the first wicket.

Seville then took two further wickets, but it was the introduction of Thompson which saw wickets tumbling.

He picked up three wickets before Coleman produced a spell of 3-8 as Compstall were all out for 99.

The Dinting reply started in the worst possible fashion with Blood perishing first ball.

Brightmore and Elliott were both out for ducks, and with Harwick adjudged LBW, they were staring down the barrel at 6-4.

Adam Wilson and Aiden Woollasen offered a dogged rearguard action, moving the score to 55 before the former was LBW for 18.

Coleman and Massey quickly followed, and following Seville’s departure, 15-year-old Tom Wyche joined Woollasen to guide their side home with 11 overs remaining, finishing on 100-8.

THE seconds lifted the Hawke Trophy following victory over Birch Vale.

Dinting batted first and made 173 all out, but Birch looked well on the way to victory at 90-1 in reply.

However, Goddard (3-25) and Worrall (3-28) changed the game for the host side with Birch 158 all out.
