A LACK of application in both innings saw Glossop beaten by 68 runs at North Road on Saturday.
Attempting to atone for defeat the week before, Glossop won the toss and put their visitors into bat on what appeared a bowler-friendly surface.
They got off to a good start as Usher took a wicket with the ninth ball of the innings.
The hosts continued to maintain a stranglehold on the Failsworth outfit, regularly beating the outside edge.
Wickets for Toft and Rogers left Woodhouses on 49-3 with 20 overs gone, but that saw Chris Atherton join James Clarke for a partnership that would turn the game.
They added 77 before man-of-the-match Hargreaves removed Clarke for 47 to leave the visitors on 126-4.
At this point, Glossop began to rein the visitors in with Hargreaves taking 6-52, including the dismissal of Atherton (68) as Woodhouses were eventually all out with four deliveries left of the allotted 50 overs.
While Glossop knew that the Woodhouses innings had got away from them to some degree, they also acknowledged that the target was achievable with the right attitude.
However, their innings never gained any momentum as Atherton bowled a miserly opening spell to take three wickets and reduce Glossop to 33-4.
Although Wilde (25) and Stopford (18) offered some resistance, they were the only batters to make double figures as Glossop limped towards three figures before finally being dismissed for 101.
Glossop were bitterly disappointed with their display, which lacked application at times in both innings, a fault which will continue to be exposed if not addressed quickly.
