MANCHESTER councillors took part in charity football match in aid of Save The Children Kroo Bay appeal.

The team of councllors including leader of Manchester city council, Sir Richard Leese took part in the event at the Jain Centre in Longsight.

The politicians went up against community based club, the Manchester Football Club & Sports Academy.

Over 100 kids took part in the event attended by representatives of Mancester Youth Service and South Manchester Regeneration.

Organiser, Councillor Luthfur Rahman said: "The aim of this charity match was to highlight the plight of those children that are less fortunate than us as well as encouraging  and supporting the kids of Manchester Football Club & Sports Academy."

He added: "It was a fantastic game, the atmosphere was absolutely electric and some of these kids are extremely talented with the potential to become proffessional."

Councillors that took part were; Afzal Khan, Rosa Battle, Maryam Khan, Luthfur Rahman, Nigel Murphy, Abid Chohan, Mike Amesbury, Naeen-Ul-Hassan snd Richard Cowell.
