A BRAND new short film has been produced to help promote the forthcoming 'One Game, One Community' weeks of action.
The Show Racism the Red Card film, which features narration from BBC Football Focus presenter Manish Bhasin, and showcases the vast spectrum of work that Kick It Out covers both throughout the year and during the weeks of action.
Professional clubs up and down the country will show the film before matches during the 'One Game, One community' weeks of action.
An exclusive preview of the film was shown at Oldham Athletic FC.
Young people from Oldham schools attended the preview at Boundary Park followed by a Q&A session with Latic players and Show Racism the Red Card patrons, Leroy Rosenior and Gary Bennett.
Community cohesion officer, James Mwale of Oldham Athletic Community Trust said: "Oldham Athletic and the Community Trust were delighted to host this event with Show Racism the Red Card.
"The campaign and events of this nature highlight the good work going on by many organisations to eliminate racism from the game and educate young people on diversity and the positive impact that many different cultures bring to our community and the game"
The film includes interviews with Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand and also features some of the game’s greatest players including Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto’o, Lilian Thuram, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Didier Drogba, talking about their experiences of racism and offering advice on how to deal with and combat racism.
Said project co-ordinator, Ged Grebby: "Show Racism the Red Card are extremely pleased to have one of our first educational events with football clubs in the 2008/09 season with Oldham Athletic FC.
"It is brilliant that the club have again given their full support to the campaign.
"We are excited to see how the audience reacts to the new film, which is an excellent addition to our range of educational resources and will be available to schools from October onwards."
The One Game, One Community weeks of action takes place over 12 days from 16-28 October with 1000 events taking place across the country.
All 92 professional clubs, as well as conference and non–league clubs along with schools, universities and community organisations will hold activities to support the initiative.
