TALENTED footballer Faisal Hussain thought his chance of cup glory had disappeared when he broke his right leg.
But the 21-year-old from Clarksfield, Oldham was all smiles when his team-mates went on to lift the trophy – and then brought it round to his house so he could join in the celebrations.
Faisal was stretchered off after being injured while playing for Glodwick Scorpions in the semi-final of the Young Muslim Organisation’s annual seven-a-side tournament.
But despite their setback, the team went on to win the competition – and immediately thought of their stricken team-mate.
As soon as he was plastered up, the Scorpions lugged the massive cup to his home.
Tournament organiser Ruhel Khan, explained: "Faisal and his team-mates were gutted when he had to be taken to hospital.
"When the team turned up at his house he was absolutely overwhelmed – it definitely cheered him up."
The tournament is now in its eighth year and involves teams from all over the UK who battle it out for the huge trophy.
This year’s runners-up were Average Joes, and Coldhurst FC were awarded the fair play accolade.
