A group of racist thugs abused a 15-year-old boy with racist chants as he walked alongside Accrington Railway Station.

British Transport Police are now appealing for information about the incident which happened around 7.20pm on Saturday, February 20, following the League Two football match between Accrington Stanley and Bradford City.

A group of Bradford fans were gathered at the station when they spotted the Asian youth and his friends walking along the pavement parallel to the platform.

They began chanting Bradford City songs, but then became racist – hurling abuse at the 15-year-old.

PC Christopher Haughton, investigating for BTP, said: "BTP takes a dim view of anyone who engages in racist behaviour and will do everything in our power to bring them to justice.

"No-one should have to suffer the abuse levelled at this teenager and his friends and I am now calling on anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

"We believe the fans travelled from Accrington to Bradford on board the 7.17pm Accrington to Bradford service - although some may have left the train at Halifax."

Anyone with information about the incident please contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
