A good samaritan had a number of items stolen from his home as he did a favour for a man in Trafford.
At 8:45pm on Monday 1 February 2010, the offender knocked on the front door of the house on King’s Road and asked for a kettle of boiled water.
The victim gave the man a kettle full of water and left his front door unlocked.
The offender returned a short time later and asked for another kettle of boiled water.
The victim went into the kitchen and when he returned, the offender had gone.
A short time later the victim went upstairs and found a number of items missing from his bedroom, including a television.
The offender was Asian, unshaven, between 25 and 30 years old, 5ft 5ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing navy woollen gloves, a navy blue hooded top with white piping and the hood pulled up.
Police Constable Claire Baldwin said: “This sort of crime is mean and it left the victim feeling angry and humiliated.
”I’d appeal to anybody who can identify the man responsible to contact us. I would also warn people not to let anyone they do not know into their home unless it has been pre-arranged.
"The best defence is to have a viewer or spy hole and a strong door chain fitted and if you have any concerns about a caller, contact a neighbour, friend, a member of the family and then the police."
