A FORMER champion wrestler who fought off two knife-wielding thugs, despite being stabbed five times, has spoken of his ordeal.
Gulfar Ahmed single-handedly beat off the attackers at his shop forcing them to flee with nothing.
However, Gulfar, 31, was seriously injured during the attack at his Salford off-licence and needed emergency surgery.
The dad-of-four was knifed several times in the shoulder and stomach and spent four days at Hope Hospital.
Gulfar said: “I punched the first man in the face, but once I knew I was stabbed I had to grab a bottle from behind the counter.
“I hit the second man with it. They ran out of the shop but
didn’t get any money.
“At first when I was stabbed it didn’t hurt. When I saw the blood all over me I had to sit on the floor, and one of my neighbours came and helped me.
“Everyone knows me in the area. I know they won’t come back.” Gulfar plans to return to work at the shop on Fitzwarren Street as soon as possible.
The attackers are white, aged between 20 and 25 and both wore dark clothing.
Det con Andrew Munden, of Swinton CID, said: “The excessive levels of violence directed at the victim prove how dangerous these men are and they need to be caught.”
Anyone with information should call Swinton CID on 0161 856 5351, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

I praise this man for sending the 2 thugs running even though he had been stabbed 5 times! Its horric and he could have easily been stabbed to death. I just hope the thugs responsible are caught and given long prison sentences for attempted robbery and murder. Gulfar should be given a bravery award in my eyes.
