Shortly after 5pm on 14 November, police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a small group of men.
The incident appeared to have started in the Nottingham Street area and moved to St Thomas Street. Nobody was seriously injured and five men were arrested on suspicion of affray.
Four men have since been released on police bail and one man, Sarfraz Khan, aged 25, from St Thomas Street, Blackburn was due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates today (Monday 17 November 2008) charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police are continuing to urge the public to come forward with information.
Detective Inspector Jill Johnston said: "Enquiries continue to be carried out and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the disturbance to contact us.
"Fortunately no one was seriously injured and I am keen to ensure this situation is not repeated.
"It is clear, from enquiries carried out at the time, that a number of people may have witnessed what happened and I would urge them to come forward.
"There are high visibility patrols in the Audley Range area who are happy to speak to anyone who has any information, which may help our investigation."
