POLICE are investigating a kidnap where a teenager was taken off the street and bundled into a van.
At 6.30pm on Wednesday 15 October 2008, a 16-year-old boy was on Dickenson Road, near Longsight Market, when he was abducted.
Two men dragged him along the street and bundled him into a van.
The teenager was then driven round for over three hours; this included being taken out of the van close to St Agnes Church on Slade Lane. He was released at around 10.00 pm.
He suffered minor injuries.
The offenders are described as being Asian and were wearing hooded tops.
One 19 year old male has been arrested for kidnap and is currently in police custody.
Detective Inspector James Ellson, of Longsight CID, said: "Being bundled into a van in this way was terrifying and the boy, although not seriously injured, has been left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
"What happened was shocking. There must have been people in the area near the market at the time who may have seen some of the incident and I'm appealing directly to them to come forward with any information they have, however insignificant they think it may be. Also, I would like to hear from anyone who saw a van and some Asian males acting suspiciously close to St Agnes Church at about 9 to 10pm."
Anyone with any information should call Longsight CID on 0161 856 1376 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
