A CULTURAL evening was held at Accrington Town Hall to celebrate the achievements of a project formed to bring people from different backgrounds together.
The Developing Cohesive Communities Project, supported by Hyndburn Council, was formed a year ago and works with the borough’s mosques and schools. It’s main aim is to promote shared British values among the community.
The main speaker at the event, organised by Hyndburn Cultural Association, was Molana Rafiq Sufi, a renowned international speaker.
Other dignitaries were also present, including the Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Pam Barton.
The main speaker touched upon the responsibilities of Muslims living in the UK and the positive role they should play in their communities.
The importance of education was highlighted and emphasis was placed on youngsters, particularly those who have benefited from the project.
At the end of the event, certificates were presented by the Mayor to children who had participated in the madrassah citizenship classes outside of school.

May be someone can post his background on this paper and also what is he renowned for as a speaker. Self appointed people have no values.
