Pupils have the write skills for journalism

Crumpsall school pupils interview writer Sherry Ashworth

Twelve budding young reporters fro  Manchester are lining up for a scoop.

A group of pupils from Crumpsall and Craven Wood Primary Schools, in Crumpsall, and Temple Primary, in Cheetham Hill, have been honing their journalistic skills in a bid to see their creations published.

The featured article’s appearance will coincide with Manchester Children’s Book Festival, organised by the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University, which runs from July 1 to 4.

And this week the dazzling dozen, aged nine and 10, have been putting all their skills into practice by interviewing local author Sherry Ashworth, who is launching her new novel Revolution at the festival.

During the book event the children will also make up a team of official festival reporters who will be interviewing other authors and reviewing events for Festival News – the official magazine – and the festival’s website.
