Police are investigating an alleged 'race hate' attack on a man and a teenage boy in Rochdale.

A 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were walking with friends along a footpath close to Sandbrook Retail Park on Edinburgh Way when it is claimed a gang of three Asian men repeatedly kicked and punched the pair and the 21-year-old was hit with a bottle.

A garage boss, who was found with stolen vehicle parts in his workshop, has been ordered to pay back almost £59,000.

Rashid Khan, aged 30 of of Blackburn Road, Haslingden, was jailed for three years nine months in July 2011 after he pleaded guilty to 12 counts of dishonestly receiving stolen goods.

Police have released CCTV images of two teenage girls they would like to speak to in connection with the mugging of a 75-year-old woman.

The elderly old woman was approached by two girls who are believed to have got out of a silver Volkswagen Golf. They snatched her bag which contained her pension money, a mobile phone and other personal items.

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after a teenage boy was left fighting for his sight in a suspected racist attack.

Daniel Stringer-Prince, 17, was attacked by a gang of men as he walked through Hyde town centre with his best friend. The trainee baker was kicked and punched as he lay on the ground.

So NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is urging blood donors from the Black and Asian communities to give an extra blood sample at their next session and join the British Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR)
