Headteachers at the borough’s six secondary schools have praised the hard work of pupils and members of staff.

Hyndburn students have been celebrating outstanding A-level results with overall improvements on last year.

Accrington Academy was marking the publication of its inaugural set of A-Level results. And it was worth the wait, with the Academy achieving a 98 per cent pass rate and 89 per cent of students scoring at least one A* to C grade.

Mount Carmel joy over exam tables

STAFF at Mount Carmel RC Science College are celebrating after coming top of this year’s Hyndburn school league table.

Government statistics released yesterday show that the average total point score of pupils completing GCSE exams was 436 – 43.4 points above the Lancashire average and 40.9 points above the national average.
