FOUNDER member of Accrington Men’s Regnal Circle, Mr Martin John Kirby, died on Monday, December 12, aged 47.
Mr Kirby, of Hunters Road, Leyland, was general treasurer of the Regnal League for 18 years.
He was also treasurer of the Accrington Men’s Regnal Circle and spent several years as a volunteer for the Prince’s Trust.
Mr Kirby worked as a chartered management accountant, employed by Browns Mitsubishi of Grimsargh.
He had a keen interest in cricket and enjoyed watching football, wrestling and snooker, loved walking holidays in the UK and abroad.
He attended St John’s Primary School and St Christopher’s High School, Accrington.
While living in Accrington he had been a member of Roy Chetham’s weather team and had an interest in trains, being a member of the East Lancs Railway Preservation Society.
As a boy he attended Cambridge Street Methodist Church Sunday School and was a founder member of the scouts and played snooker in their team.
He enjoyed solving Sudoku puzzles.
Mr Kirby leaves his parents Anne and David, and a brother Gary.
His funeral was on Tuesday, December 20 when Rev Roger Brown conducted a service at Cambridge Street Methodist Church, Accrington followed by cremation.
Family flowers only with donations to the Critical Care Unit at Royal Preston Hospital.
